How Covid helped us build the best version of our product…

It’s been a while since we’ve updated you on what’s been going on here at FileProtected.com. A lot has changed in the world, and FileProtected is no exception. One thing remains constant: our commitment to making it simple and affordable for all creators to register proof of ownership, attribution, and the authenticity of their intellectual property (IP), and then help protect and monetize it wherever it travels.

We were in the midst of preparing to launch FileProtected after a long development cycle when the COVID-19 pandemic struck. With the world turned upside down, and no end in sight, we had to put our launch plans on hold. For a brief moment, we considered giving up. Not that we hadn't come close before after all, creating software is not for the timid, but Covid seemed to be the final curveball, or more like a meteor smashing into us, a sign that perhaps it was time to give up the struggle of being an entrepreneur.

After a few days of moping around, binge-watching Netflix, and trying to figure out what the hell was going on in the world, we made the decision to jump right back into development. It was the best thing we could have done. What could have been a total disaster actually turned into a big positive for us.

With time on our side for once and no hard launch date beating down on us, we were able to implement new features and functionality that we had intended to include only in future releases. This includes AI-assisted image tagging, a creator-direct marketplace without middlemen or licensing fees, and integration with Google Search to make it possible to buy or license content with just one click from search results. We also added an Instagram-only edition to FileProtected —a scaled-down version of our main product designed specifically for Instagram users. Not to mention, we revamped, reskinned, and rebuilt the UI/UX. If you are a creator, we think you’re going to love what we’ve been up to!

If the COVID pandemic had one benefit, it was the opportunity it gave us to slow down and take the time to refine our product without the pressure of a launch date. When a launch date is always in sight, it's easy to hurry and cut features or put off work until a later build. FileProtected is now better than ever, and we’re back on the on-ramp, with engines revving and getting ready to launch again. Thanks, Covid! (Just kidding…)
